Hector Garcia was born in Cuzco, Peru on April 20, 1960. Once the capitol of the Incan Empire, Cuzco retains the flavor of this ancient heritage. Both Spanish and Quechua were spoken in the Garcia home. Hector’s father, Alberto, introduced him to the musical classics of Europe at an early age. This influence, amidst the rich musical traditions of South America, served to create in Hector an appreciation of diverse musical styles. He would later embody these in his striking guitar technique.
